Senior pitcher marks 500th strikeout
MADISON – The suspense was killing them in Madison on Wednesday as senior pitcher Kara Mekulsia notched her 500th career strikeout in a 20-1 rout over Conneaut (0-1). Needing 12 more K’s coming into the game, she hit the magic number in the final at-bat of the contest.
Blue Streaks freshman Gianna LaMarco backed up the effort, going 4-for-4 at the plate with four runs scored. Senior Adrianna Mussell drove in four runs, while Junior Natalie Best plated a trio of teammates. Ally Negin, Hannah Welch, and Tori Semple added two RBI apiece. Negin and Mekulsia each scored three runs apiece.
The win boosts Madison to 5-1 on the season.
ON DECK: Madison will host the Wickliffe Blue Devils on Friday at 5 pm.
