West G overcomes early Edgewood outburst in 14-9 win
ASHTABULA TOWNSHIP – CVC baseball saw a riveting cross-division matchup between West Geauga (3-2) and Edgewood (2-2) on Friday. Both clubs came out swinging with a 7-7 tie score by the second inning. In the end, it was the visiting Wolverines able to take advantage and double-up for a 14-9 victory.
West G trailed 9-8 heading into the top of the fifth inning as daylight threatened to sneak off behind heavy cloud cover and a brisk wind. Some timely hits combined with costly miscues for the Warriors led to a four-run spurt and a lead that the Wolverines would not relinquish. The team added two-insurance scores in the top of the sixth before playing out to a scoreless 7th inning.
