Eagles take half game lead on Perry in CVC race with 44-34 win

An early lead was all Geneva (8-2, 3-2 CVC) would need to pave way for a 44-34 win over rival Perry (6-3, 3-3 CVC) on Friday. Seniors Brooke Richmond and Moharrah Jackson each put up five points in the quarter. Jackson dashed her way inside for a team-high 13 points and six rebounds as the Pirates paid close attention on defense to limit Richmond on the outside.

Up 25-11 at the half, the Eagles protected that lead as Perry burst out in the second half for 17 points in the third quarter. Junior guard Victoria Lynch scored all of her game-high 16 points in the second half, including two three pointers in the third quarter, along with another from fellow guard Jaidyn Newsome. Junior Rosalyn Tharp scored eight points.

Senior Delaney Marrison dropped in 12 points for Geneva, with two field goals in the first, third and fourth quarters.

UP NEXT: Geneva will host Willoughby South on Monday, while Perry looks to reset at home vs. Lakeside on Wednesday.
